Red, white & blasted
SantaCon swarm hits city’s pubs
HERE COMES SantaCon, here comes SantaCon, right down the Great White Way.
Midtown Manhattan was awash in red, white and booze Saturday as the charity slog-fest known as SantaCon hit the streets.
Hundreds of revelers dressed as Kris Kringle packed Times Square before ho-ho-hobbling their way across the city in search of holiday spirits.
“It’s a good time all around — a day full of fun, friends and booze,” said Harlem resident Chez Dechellis, 30, who was decked out in full white beard and red suit.
Organizers scaled back the 18th annual revelry, limiting the fun to 31 preapproved pubs around Times Square as to not over- lap with planned protests throughout the rest of the city.
They had also warned Santas to be on their best behavior after several establishments complained about the rowdy bar crawl.
“We already have enough drunks on 42nd St.,” said security guard Neavin Vaughn as a few St. Nicks stumbled past. “We don’t need this.”
