Niagara Falls cocaine bust
BORDER officers found 12 pounds of cocaine inside a car entering from Canada after spotting inconsistencies in the vehicle’s spare tire, authorities said.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say the car was driven by a Canadian woman across the Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls, Ontario, into Niagara Falls, N.Y., on Thursday.
After a primary interview, the woman was sent for a secondary exam.
That’s when officers examining her car detected problems with its spare tire.
Inside the tire, they found six vacuum-sealed bags of cocaine with a street value of just under $200,000.
The driver’s name hasn’t been released.
She’s charged with possession of a controlled substance.
