Lampard’s new goal may be jolt to NYCFC

-

It has been rumored for a while and denied by NYCFC, but Frank Lampard seems on the verge of extending his loan with Manchester City and, as a result, missing at least part of MLS training camp. According to Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, Lampard has already expressed his desire to remain in England.

“Frank Lampard wants to stay and we want to keep him,” Pellegrini said after Lampard scored Saturday in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Leicester City. The former Chelsea midfielder’s 175th Premier League goal tied him with ex-Arsenal striker and newly departed Red Bulls star Thierry Henry for fourth on the career list.

Lampard’s loan is scheduled to expire on Jan. 1, which would give him time to participate in NYCFC’s inaugural training camp. Manchester City’s season extends into late May so, depending on how long of a loan extension is being discussed, Lampard could be missing regular-season games in MLS. “It will be resolved in December,” Pellegrini said. “Frank is a top player. He is very important to us and we will talk with New York City and the MLS.”

GET THAT SHOE OUTTA HERE!

The Warriors won their franchiserecord 15th straight game, with Stephen Curry scoring 29 points and adding a bizarre footnote in a 105-98 victory over the host Mavericks. After the Warriors’ Marreese Speights lost his shoe making a move, the sneaker was thrown toward midcourt to get it out of the way as the possession continued. When the teams headed back the other way, Curry picked up the loose shoe and tried to toss it to Speights. But Mavericks center Tyson Chandler, the former Knick, swatted the sneaker in midair, knocking it near the sideline.
