Revis a real gas in radio interview

- BY SETH WALDER

DARRELLE Revis even covers bodily functions like a pro.

The star cornerback was perfectly honest when, midway through his interview on the Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio Wednesday, Revis admitted, “I’m sorry. I’ve got a little gas, I’m sorry.”

Kay assured him that it was fine, and the interview continued. At the end, co-host Don LaGreca poked a little fun at the returning Jet.

“Get some Gas-X, man,” LaGreca said. “I’ve never heard a guest say that before on here.”

Revis was much less forthcoming, however, about the dueling tampering charges between Woody Johnson and Robert Kraft, despite being caught in the middle. Asked what he thought of the matter, Revis said, “I don’t know. I guess we’ve just got to see how it plays out.”

“Even though my name is involved in it, nobody’s calling me about it, I’m not really involved,” Revis added later on SNY.

The Patriots filed tampering charges against the Jets after Johnson said, “I’d love Darrelle to come back,” on Dec. 29. The Jets followed suit by filing charges against Kraft for his comments from Monday, when he said, “The fan in me wishes he was still with us.” Kraft also said that the Patriots wanted to keep Revis in their system and that they made a “very competitive offer.”

It sounds as if he and Revis have different definitions of “very competitive.” While Revis didn’t reveal what the Patriots were willing to pay him, he made it sound like they weren’t all that close.

“I had the option, $20 million option, that they could exercise and they didn’t. We tried to work on a deal. And the deal, we felt that it wasn’t in the ballpark of what we were looking for,” Revis said. “And we moved on, they moved on, too.”

Once Revis became a free agent, he listed the Browns, Steelers, Chiefs, Ravens and Packers as teams that were interested him. He said his camp had one conversation with Rex Ryan’s Bills.

ANOTHER THE ON BOARD

The Jets continued their search for veteran bargains, and on Wednesday they filled a need by signing blocking tight end Kellen Davis. The seven-year veteran agreed to a one-year deal, according to a source.

Davis was with the Giants in training camp a year ago but did not make the team. He was signed by the Lions in October and played in six games, but did not record a single reception.

Davis has also played for the Seahawks and Bears, who took him in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. He has 50 career receptions for 561 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Jets’ three main tight ends — Jace Amaro, Jeff Cumberland and Zach Sudfeld — are all receiving-type tight ends.
