Swank & Falco are pawsome

- Lance Bass, Lake Bell, Christian Siriano, Alicia Quarles and Isaac Mizrahi were also on hand to support the cause.

TALK ABOUT party animals. Pet-friendly actresses Hilary Swank and Edie Falco were honored at the 18th ASPCA Bergh Ball, where Jessica Hart, Star

Jones, Dominic Chianese and Georgina Bloomberg joined gala vice chairman and AKR Public Relations honcho

Amanda K. Ruisi to support four-legged New Yorkers. The big bash was held in advance of Saturday’s National Pet Day.

On hand to receive the ASPCA Voice for Animals Award on Thursday, Falco (r.) told us that she accidentally wound up running her own animal shelter for a while when she rescued her dog Sami.

“She was a puppy mill mom and they busted the puppy mill,” Falco told us. “I got her from the shelter before they even checked

her out that GETTY much. It turned out she was pregnant, so I ended up having eight dogs in my house about a month after I adopted her. It was crazy. I ended up giving all the puppies to my friends, so they all have the same dogs as me now.”

It was no surprise, then, that Falco won the Voice for Animals Award on Thursday. Swank, who spoke to us as if a Sarah McLachlan song should be playing in the background, was on hand to receive the ASPCA Compassion Award. “I have such a profound love for animals and kids,” she said. “I think we need to speak for them and all stand together and do what we can to help them and all DAILY the vulnerable pets.”

According to Oscar NEWS winner Swank, her biggest fans are her two rescue dogs. “Rescuing an animal, they look at you every day with such gratitude and such love. I always say that I hope I end up being half the person that my dog thinks that I am,” said. Swank was spotted putting her mouth where her money is, smooching her pit bull puppy on the red carpet.
