Discover your pride and purpose at Hofstra University

-

With the top-notch resources and wideranging programs of a large university, and the sense of community and personal attention of small college, Hofstra University is a great place for students who are looking for a traditional campus experience without sacrificing the networking opportunities, internship experiences, and cultural offerings of nearby Manhattan.

Opportunities, on- and off-campus, are available for students to conduct research with a distinguished professor; intern with top-tier companies in finance or media, in the state Legislature or Congress; work in our cutting-edge facilities such as the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room or WRHU-88.7 FM, Radio Hofstra University which was named the top college radio station in the country by The Princeton Review (2014).

A program meant for you

Hofstra offers six undergraduate degrees with 145 undergraduate program options, as well as over 100 dual degree program options that give students the opportunity to earn both a graduate and undergraduate degree in less time than if each degree was pursued separately. Hofstra’s faculty members are knowledgeable and insightful thinkers, dedicated to providing the foundation and tools students need to succeed. And, 92% of our full-time faculty hold the highest degree in their respective fields. With an average undergraduate class size of 21 and a student-faculty ratio of 14-to-1, students are challenged and encouraged to debate, question, do research, discuss and think critically in an open, collaborative learning environment.

Much more than academics

Hofstra hosts hundreds of social, academic and cultural events each year, drawing together scholars, business leaders, authors, celebrities, health care professionals, politicians and journalists from across the nation and around the world. These events help foster that connection between in-classroom work and extracurricular interests we know you’re looking for. In addition, Hofstra offers 17 intercollegiate athletic programs that compete at the NCAA Division I level and more than 200 academic, fraternal/sororal, media, multicultural, performance, pre-professional, religious, social, social/political, and sports clubs and organizations.

Pride and purpose

Since its founding in 1935, Hofstra has evolved into an internationally renowned university that continues to achieve recognition as an institution of academic excellence. Hofstra is consistently recognized on the Best College lists of U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review, Fiske, Washington Monthly, and Forbes.

Hofstra has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll since 2008, and more than 1,000 of our students served as volunteers when Hofstra hosted presidential debates in 2008 and 2012.

At Hofstra, Pride & Purpose means celebrating our history and traditions, and challenging ourselves, individually and collectively, to use our talents to make our campus, our community and our world a better place.
