How do you measure the value of a college education?

-

There is a lot being written today about the return on investment of a college degree. Many in the academic world argue you cannot measure an education in dollars and cents. At Monroe we never lose sight of the fact that your college education must enable you to succeed in the real world. And to accomplish that, first and foremost, we must give you the tools, the support, and the flexibility to succeed at college — to stay in school and earn a degree.

Students at Monroe College stay to earn their degrees. Monroe’s six-year graduation rate is over 60%, more than double the graduation rates at other colleges in this area. More than 14,000 students have earned degrees from Monroe College over the last five years.

Monroe offers classes at two campuses, in the Bronx and in New Rochelle, where new beautiful and technologically-advanced student residences have been completed on Main Street. In addition, Monroe provides a complete roster of classes online in every major — an online program that U.S. News and World Report cited as one of the best in New York State and one of the tops in the country for veterans.

And of critical importance, Monroe College removes, perhaps, the biggest hurdles to achieving a degree — expense. Monroe College is “the Most Affordable Private College in New York State,” according to U.S. News and World Report. And annually millions of dollars in grants, scholarships and financial aid are available to Monroe students.

Little wonder that Monroe College is recognized as a leader in urban education. Monroe is ranked in the Top 10 in the United States for bachelor’s degree programs for African Americans in accounting, hospitality and criminal justice, and in the top 10 in the U.S. for bachelor’s degrees for Hispanics in criminal justice and IT (source, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education). The master’s programs, which include MBA, Criminal Justice, Public Health and Hospitality Leadership, are ranked in the top 62 universities in the country (source, Washington Monthly Magazine). The Criminal Justice degree program is the second largest in the State of New York. The Culinary teams have won nearly five hundred medals for excellence since 2009, among the elite schools in the country, and culinary students operate a restaurant on the New Rochelle campus that was recently highly-evaluated by the New York Times.

Monroe is a college like no other in the New York area, more cosmopolitan, more focused on success and more affordable. Monroe draws students from all over the world and across the United States — young men and women from six continents and 23 states are working towards their degrees at Monroe.

Come and meet the Monroe community — the administrators, the faculty and the students who make up the Monroe College family.
