Innovative new programs anticipate tomorrow’s careers

You want all of the knowledge, communication skills, and analytical abilities a solid liberal arts degree can give you. At St. Joseph’s, we give you that broad foundation. We also stay in step with the job market by designing new programs that give you a career edge in this competitive world.

Just announced, St. Joseph’s is introducing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on both its Brooklyn and Long Island Campuses for the 2015 Fall Semester. The B.S. in Nursing was designed to prepare SJC students for careers as registered professional nurses. The program will include the use of sophisticated patient simulation and skills labs to enhance student learning and provide opportunities to gain practice before their first clinical experience in the hospital setting by developing psychomotor skills, critical thinking skills and clinical reasoning essential to nursing practice. The program will also provide a supportive and caring environment for students to learn, practice and refine skills needed to function in the clinical setting.

Another new program, the B.S. degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management includes three distinct areas of concentration — Tourism, Hotel Management and Health Care Hospitality — designed to afford students a variety of pathways to pursue a broad range of career choices that align with the most recent trends in employment in the New York region.

Another unique program at St. Joseph’s College is the Journalism and New Media Studies Program, which provides a blend of academics and practical skills gained through first-hand experiences with leading media outlets.

Known for their excellence in teacher education, St. Joseph’s recently added an M.A. degree in Childhood or Adolescence Special Education on the Brooklyn Campus. This program focuses on four leadership core courses and six special education classes, providing students with a range of certification options. St. Joseph’s also recently added several dual degrees for the B.A. or B.S./M.A. in Adolescence Special Education or Math Education on the Long Island campus to help students save time and money in completing their graduate degrees.

St. Joseph’s understands the unique needs of adult students. That’s why we offer a wide range of unique programs, each with affordability, flexibility and convenience. For students looking for graduate programs, we offer intensive graduate programs leading to master’s degrees in business, education, human services and nursing, as well as an MFA in Creative Writing (Brooklyn only). Our expert faculty brings both scholarship and relevant work experience into the classroom, and we schedule classes at times that work for you .

We’ll help you build personal connections and have fun, too

We support more than 35 lively campus clubs on both our Brooklyn and Long Island campuses, and our Division III athletic programs are flourishing.
