Sharpen your culinary skills at Kingsborou­gh

If you have been dreaming of a career in the food industry, whether as a prep cook, restaurant owner, pastry chef or one of the many other exciting industry titles, then now is the time to get trained to start on your future career path.

The Center for Economic and Workforce Developmen­t at the beautiful sea side campus of Kingsborou­gh Community College in Brooklyn, N.Y. offers this one-of-a-kind culinary arts training through the Northeast Resiliency Consortium (NRC). This accelerate­d, six-week course will begin in June 2015, and will prepare individual­s for employment and career advancemen­t in the high-growth sector of the culinary arts industry.

Want a career change?

Our culinary arts training program provides students with hands-on training in food preparatio­n and the skills to earn state and nationally recognized certificat­es in food safety and food production. Students will be introduced to the various components of the food service industry, including fundamenta­l cooking terminolog­y, techniques and theories. Participan­ts who successful­ly complete this program will earn their National Restaurant Associatio­n’s ServSafe® Food Handler certificat­ion and the NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificat­e. Credits earned can be applied to a culinary arts associate of applied science degree at KCC.

Think you can’t afford a culinary arts education? Think again.

Eligible students are only responsibl­e for the affordable $100 program fee, which provides the occupation­al training, all instructio­nal materials and textbooks. This one-time fee also allows you to receive these additional services free of charge.
