Cabrera’s 2 HRs lift Tigers to 6-0

CLEVELAND — Miguel Cabrera homered twice and drove in four runs as the Detroit Tigers moved to 6-0 for the first time in 30 years with an 8-5 win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.

Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the first inning off T.J. House (0-1) and J.D. Martinez added an insurance solo shot in the ninth as the Tigers finished off a series sweep, improving to 18-5 in Cleveland since 2013.

Cabrera went 4 for 4 with his first two homers of the season, a double and single.

RAYS 8, MARLINS 5 : Nathan Karns allowed two hits in seven innings for his second career victory and Tampa Bay beat reeling Miami.

Karns (1-1), making his seventh career start, allowed two runs — one earned — and lowered his career ERA from 6.67 to 5.65.

BLUE JAYS 10, ORIOLES 7 : Jose Bautista hit the last of Toronto’s three home runs, and Toronto beat host Baltimore Orioles to complete a solid season-opening road trip.

WHITE SOX 6, TWINS 2 : Chris Sale pitched six solid innings in his return from a foot injury, and host Chicago Minnesota. Adam LaRoche homered for the second straight day and had a run-scoring single as the White Sox earned their second straight win after dropping their first four games.

ROYALS 9, ANGELS 2 : Alcides Escobar and Alex Rios hit two-run doubles, Salvador Perez homered, and defending AL champion Kansas City extended its season-opening win streak to six games .

MARINERS 8, ATHLETICS 7 (10) : Nelson Cruz homered for the second straight day, hitting a solo drive in the 10th inning that sent Seattle over host Oakland.

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez left after five innings as a precaution because of tightness in his right quadriceps.

NATIONALS 4, PHILLIES 3 (10) :Wilson Ramos drove in what would be the winning run in the 10th inning with his second RBI of the day, and Washington defeated host Philadelph­ia.

PADRES 6, GIANTS 4: Backup catcher Wil Nieves hit his first career grand slam, a drive off former San Diego star Jake Peavy, and the host Padres beat San Francisco.

PIRATES 10, BREWERS 2 :Andrew McCutchen homered, Neil Walker also hit a three-run homer and the Pirates routed host Milwaukee.

CARDINALS 7, REDS 5 (11) : Matt Carpenter hit a tworun homer off Kevin Gregg in the 11th inning, lifting St. Louis over host Cincinnati in a game that featured the major league debut of Cuban right-hander Raisel Iglesias for the Reds.

DODGERS 7, DIAMONDBAC­KS 4 : Alex Guerrero had his first big league homer and four RBI, Zack Greinke pitched seven strong innings and Los Angeles avoided a three-game sweep.

CUBS 6, ROCKIES 5: .Dexter Fowler hit a two-run homer off LaTroy Hawkins with two outs in the ninth inning, helping the Chicago rally for a win in Denver.
