Schumer in prize form at Peabody
BEFORE AMY SCHUMER picked up a prestigious Peabody Award in a glitzy ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street on Sunday night, she put on a little show on the red carpet outside.
When a Chinese television station stepped up to interview the comedian, and ended up only asking if she could be on “Chinese TV,” Schumer replied with a yes, adding, “I love your medicine.” When the reporter then asked if she liked Chinese food, she responded, “Sure, I love Chinese food. I’m Jewish. We have it every Christmas.” She topped off her interview by telling the reporter she “loves acupuncture.” As for her Peabody, Schumer (below r., greeting an appreciative Tina Fey) told us it’s her staff who earned it.
“I don’t feel out of place and I don’t think it’s ironic. Do you? I think we deserve this,” she said, adding that she was still excited from her sold-out show at the Apollo on Friday night, which Confidenti@l attended.
“I was so excited to film my special ... Chris Rock directed,” she said. We spotted Rock giving last-minute instructions to the crew, with Jessica Seinfeld front and center, seated near Schumer’s best friends and touring companions, comedians Nikki Glaser and Rachel Feinstein. The “Inside Amy” star is headed to London for the first time this week. She’s also gearing up for the July release of “Trainwreck,” the Judd Apatow-directed movie based on her life.
