Bless the child
Bronx: To Voicer Nicolle Martinez: As a foster parent to four children, I find your letter unbelievable. In the last nine months, I have had to take off over 20 days, not only for mandatory medical, vision and dentist appointments, but also for the usual childhood maladies such as strep, rotted teeth, etc. — so many days that when I got sick, I had to take a day without pay to go see the doctor. I’m sorry you were so unfortunate to have landed in foster care in the first place, but you should probably consider yourself lucky that someone was willing to step in to care for you all these years in place of the person who brought you into this world. Most people would not want to take on such a challenge. Good luck and great times to you in your future endeavors and congratulations on making it into Columbia. Susan Peterson
