Star eyes the end of ‘Liars’

- BY DAVID HINCKLEY

OMG. At some point it really will be RIP for “PLL.”

“I see the end of the tunnel,” says Lucy Hale, who plays Aria Montgomery on the ABC Family fave “Pretty Little Liars,” whose season begins Tuesday night at 8.

Hale adds that she doesn’t know when or how it will finish. But to the disappointment of its fiercely loyal fans, it won’t run forever.

“At this point we’re in the sixth season and we’ve been picked up for season seven,” Hale notes. “But I think we all see places where it could end.”

Not that she’s in any hurry. “I love it for as long as it goes,” she says. “It’s a great ride.”

There will be twists and progressions in the season ahead, including a time jump that could catapult Aria, Hannah Marin (Ashley Benson), Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario) and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) to very different places, whether or not all the issues with the mysterious “A” are sorted out.

The most recent episodes ended with the Liars imprisoned in a bizarre place that replicated their rooms and their prom, with appropriate informal and formal wear.

“Wardrobe is so much of who we are as people,” says Hale. “The way Aria dresses is very different from how I dress, and putting on her clothes helps get me into her character. “ Familiarity helps, too. “Aria is second nature to me now,” says Hale. “We film for nine months, we take three months off, and I feel like I pick up right where we left off. Aria’s easy to play. I enjoy playing her.”

Fans feel the same — for as long as it will last.
