THE SADISTIC Brooklyn rapist who threatened to kill his 82-year-old victim if she called the cops was first busted for a sex crime a day before his 10th birthday.

And his victim in that 2006 incident was under the age of 11, sources told the Daily News.

The perverse past of suspect Asa Roberts, 18, emerged Wednesday as the victim’s family waited for cops to track down the man who left their matriarch terrified and bruised from head to toe.

“I’d rather they kill him,” one relative told The News. “I’d rather they shoot him. . . . He’s an animal. I hope they get him soon.”

Roberts had at least nine prior arrests on a variety of charges before he slipped into the Brighton Beach home through an unlocked door. And he told the victim this was far from his first criminal foray.

“He told her that he has done this many times and that he couldn’t control himself,” the family member said. The overmatched elderly victim was punched, slammed into a wall, choked, raped and sodomized before her attacker finally left — departing with a bag of her dead husband’s shirts and a stolen umbrella.

“He walked out of the house dangling an umbrella like nothing happened, and he had just raped her five minutes earlier,” the family member said.

The battered woman told family members that Roberts forced her to swear on a Bible that she would not send the police after him once the 41/2-hour assault finally ended.

“He took advantage of the fact that she was religious,” the relative told The News. “He made her swear on a Jewish Bible that she wouldn’t call the police, making fun of her.”

The victim was so intimidated that she called the family member instead of the cops once the attacker left about 6:30 a.m. on Monday.

“She even asked me afterward if she had broken her pledge, and I said, ‘No, you didn’t call the police. I called the police,’ ” the relative said.

A fingerprint lifted from the victim’s bedroom dresser was matched to the left middle finger of Roberts, cops said.

The relative echoed police in saying that the victim went out of her way to treat the suspect politely, inquiring about the teen’s family and at one point asking if she could make Roberts a meal.

“She treated him like a grandson, and then he raped her right before he left,” the relative said. “He is an animal, and he has to be taken off the streets. . . . There was no reason to do what he did to her. She has not slept since this happened, and is very traumatized.”

Roberts remained on the run early Thursday.

He made her swear on a Jewish Bible that she wouldn’t call the police.
