It’s Comic relief for tired Reed

-

ON’T BE FOOLED BY ALL THE NERDS: Comic-Con is not for the faint of heart. Confidenti@l has learned that

Nikki Reed was rushed to the emergency room from the San Diego pop culture and entertainment festival and kept overnight for observation.

We’re told the “Twilight” star and new wife of “Vampire Diaries” hunk Ian Somerhalder had urgent treatment after citing throat problems. Doctors told her the likely causes were exhaustion and dehydration.

“Nikki (r.) said that it was probably because she’s been flying so much for work. She’s been to 20 cities in eight days for work obligations,” said our source.

After being discharged, the actress flew to Atlanta to spend a night with Somerhalder, who is filming there, and then soldiered on to Nashville to attend a launch party for Bonnie Rose white whisky.

A Confidenti@l spy at the party told us Reed “was a bit more soft-spoken” after her health scare, but “danced to country music performances and sipped on Bonnie Rose cocktails.”

We’re told that by the time she left the party her voice was going again, and that she’s recovering well.

Reed better get that voice back soon. On Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed she’s joining the cast of Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” playing Betsy Ross.

“We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ ” co-creator and executive producer

Len Wiseman told the magazine. “Nikki’s the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show’s twisted version of American icon Betsy Ross.”

Wiseman isn’t the only guy singing her praises. On Monday, Reed’s new husband, who she married in April after a three-month engagement, told E! Online, “There’s a lot of passion in our house. Nikki’s incredible,” he said. “She’s turned the house into an animal rescue. ... Selflessly, literally giving her resources and her home and her family’s time and her time to saving animals in need,” said Somerhalder.

“It’s actually quite extraordinary,” he noted. “We actually have nine animals at home — four dogs, three cats and two horses.”
