ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE SUSPENDED FRIDAY AND SATURDAY FOR EID AL-FITR

POTUS Gridlock Alert! President Obama will make a quick stop in the city, slowing down your weekend plans. The President arrives Friday night, and he will attend a fundraising event that evening. On Saturday afternoon, Obama heads to the Richard Rogers Theater on 46th St. between Eighth and Seventh Aves. to catch a matinee showing of the musical “Hamilton” at 2 p.m. So here’s what you should avoid and when: After 6 p.m. Friday, stay clear of the FDR Drive from 63rd St. to the Battery. After 8 p.m. or so it should reopen. Expect avenue freezes in Midtown after 6 pm. On Saturday afternoon, don’t even THINK of Driving near Times Square. Around 6 p.m., the FDR will be off-limits again. For a blow-by-blow description, follow me on Twitter @GridlockSam Sunday provides no traffic relief. The NYC Triathlon on Sunday will cause major traffic turbulence in Manhattan and the Bronx 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. The northbound lanes of the Henry Hudson Parkway leading to the Bronx-bound Henry Hudson Bridge will close 4 a.m. to noon for the cycling portion of the race. During the same time, the northbound West Side Highway will also be closed from 56th St. to the Henry Hudson Bridge. All southbound lanes of the bridge into Manhattan will remain open throughout the triathlon. 72nd St. between Riverside Drive and Central Park West will also close 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Another full weekend closure ahead for Manhattan-bound traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge. All Manhattan-bound traffic will close midnight Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Inbound traffic should use the Battery Tunnel or Manhattan Bridge as an alternative.
