Revis is officially ruled out

- BY JUSTIN TASCH

It was merely a formality, given Todd Bowles' pessimism on Thursday, but Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis (concussion) was officially ruled out Friday for Sunday’s clash against the Giants. That was hardly a surprise given his inactivity all week, though Friday was the first time he sat in on meetings. But the Jets’ cornerback corps could take another hit with the possible absence of Marcus Williams, who missed practice again on Friday with an MCL sprain suffered on Sunday against the Dolphins. Williams, along with safety Dion Bailey (ankle) is doubtful for Sunday.

After saying Thursday Williams would be a game-time decision, Bowles conceded Friday that he's “skeptical about” Williams' availability.

Williams, however, still said he was a gametime decision and that his knee is “getting better.” He said he suffered an MCL sprain once at North Dakota State and he missed one game.

NO BIG DEAL

Echoing Jason Pierre-Paul’s sentiment from Wednesday trying to downplay the heat between the Jets and Giants, Jets linebacker Calvin Pace said Friday there isn't a rivalry between the two because they only play each other once every four years and in the preseason. “I will say this, man, the Giants bring a certain type of physicality,” said Pace, who was limited in practice Friday and is questionable with an abdominal injury. “Ever since I’ve been here it's always been one of our toughest games.” Pace also praised Giants receiver Odell Beckham, whom Pace compared to Houston's DeAndre Hopkins; the Jets played the Texans two weeks ago.

Just how difficult is it to cover Beckham one on one?

“It looks pretty hard, man,” Pace said. “It’s not a job that I have, obviously, but he’s a great player, man. We all have to do our part, obviously. We’ll have eyes on him.”

SAINT NICK

The Jets Women’s Organization hosted 18 military families Friday for a holiday event where kids got to decorate gingerbread houses and attendees got to take photos with Nick Mangold dressed as Santa Claus.
