Police probe N.Y. journo’s death in D.R.
AUTHORITIES IN the Dominican Republic are investigating the suspicious death of a former New York journalist whose body was found in the apartment she shared with her husband, according to reports. Sarah Kershaw, 49, who has w worked for The New York Times and Newsday, was a freelance journalist and had moved to the Caribbean island with her husb band William N Norton in 2014.
A preliminary aut topsy showed that Kershaw (photo inset) died of asphyxiation due to strangling. Officials said they had not ruled out suicide.
Norton, 50, was taken in for questioning. His Facebook page describes him as a former senior editor of the Miami Herald’s international edition.
“Talking with her was always one of the best parts of my day,” said Trish Hall, one of Kershaw’s editors at The Times. “She was curious about everything, and everything was fodder for a story.”
