AW JEEZ, LAY OFF THE HATE

-

Now it’s legal to discriminate in Georgia. Or it’s about to be if the governor signs the pro-discrimination act that already passed the state’s senate.

The two-part bill, the Pastor Protection Act, which could allow religious leaders to refuse to perform same-sex marriages, (which they are allowed to do anyway since it’s a religious ceremony and therefore not the state’s business), and the First Amendment Defense Act, which critics fear would enable taxfunded organizations to deny service to the LGBT community.

Question: When did we officially become a nation of proud legal haters?

When did we become the land of fear mongers — terrified that immigrants will take our jobs, same-sex couples will destroy families, foreign terrorists will kill us all?

And when did we think it was OK to umbrella all that hate under the banner of Jesus, the most inclusive and pacifistic being who ever walked among us?
