Gay-slay vic’s pal faces susp

THE BEST FRIEND of a gay man who watched as his friend was murdered in the West Village stayed strong Tuesday during an awkward courtroom encounter with the accused shooter.

Elliot Morales, 36, who is on trial for the murder of 32-year-old Mark Carson, got to cross-examine Carson’s pal, a witness to the shooting who was on the phone with 911 when the shot rang out. Morales is acting as his own lawyer.

Danny Robinson, 34, appeared to be trying hard to keep his composure during questioning in Manhattan Supreme Court by his pal’s accused killer.

Robinson said he watched Morales fire a fatal shot at Carson’s head after saying the friends were dressed “like gay wrestlers” in the May 18, 2013, incident on W. Eighth St.

Morales asked Robinson if it was “possible that what happened was a reaction to the threat that was put on my own life?”

He suggested that Carson “insisted I fight with you while at the same time you reached into your pocket and removed what I believed was a black gun.” Robinson apparently was taking out his cell phone to call police for help at the time.
