Shot in neck at a Harlem barbershop

The discovery of King Tut’s nearly intact tomb by Howard Carter in 1922 sparked a surge in interest in Egyptology and yielded unpreceden­ted pharaonic treasures, including the boy king’s sar- cophagusan­d iconic golden burial mask.

The tomb lies near Luxor, in southern Egypt, which served as the pharaonic capital in ancient times, and is home to sprawling temples and several highly decorated ancient tombs in the Valley of the Kings. A gunman wearing a white leathe er jacket walked into the Wilton B Beauty Salon and Barber Shop on Amsterdam Ave. by W. 140th St. and opened fire on the 23-year-old victim just after 10 p.m., critically wounding him, police said.

Barber Fantel Marte, 3 39, said the victim was one of five customers in theshop along with three barbers.

The victim was waiting for a chair to open up when chaos came throughthe front door.

“(The gunman) just walked inside and started shooting. Two shots, Boom boom!” Marte said. ““The bullet went in (the victim’s) n neckandout his mouth.

Even so, the shot only staggered t the23-year-old, Marte said.

“He’s very athletic so he wasn’t going down that way,” Marte said. “Heranoutsi­de to get a cab.”

Marte said he followed and f flaggeddow­nanambulan­ce.

Emergency personnel took the v victim to St. Luke’s Hospital in serio ous condition.

The shooter ran off, and ditched the gun (photo) — a silver Walther PK380 with a black handle — in a cardboard box by the entrance of nearby Alexander Hamilton Playground, cop sources said.

Shortly after the shooting police took a suspect into custody for questionin­g, cop sources said.
