Revis has surgery to fix wrist

- BY SETH WALDER

Jets star CB Darrelle Revis had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist Thursday and will be in a cast for the next 2-to3 months, but is expected to be ready for training camp.

The cornerback began feeling soreness in his wrist in Week 3 of last season, according to a source. After the season, the soreness lingered, so Revis had the wrist checked out, which is when it was discovered that he had a torn ligament, according to a source.

Todd Bowles intimated at the Senior Bowl that the Jets' gameplan vs. Bills receiver Sammy Watkins in Week 17 had to due with the health of his players. The Jets' $70 million man was schooled by Watkins throughout most of that season finale which would have put the Jets into the postseason with a win. Watkins, who was mostly marked by No. 24, finished with 11 receptions for 136 yards.

Revis played soft coverage against Watkins, and Bowles was asked why he didn't play press coverage.

"Why would you do that with the weather like that?" Bowles told the Daily News at the time, noting the rough weather conditions that day. "And who's to say that everybody on the defense was healthy to do all that type of stuff in the first place?"

Now it appears that Bowles was talking directly about Revis’ injury which effected the Jets’ defensive game plan.

"Who's to say he was or wasn't (hurt)," Bowles said at the time. "I'm not intimating anything. I'm just saying that I made decisions based on things we could do or get away with in certain coverages. Whether we locked (Watkins) up or whether we played zone, we still have people underneath and over top."

"The guy made plays. You got to give him credit. He's a good player too. Sometimes you get the rabbit. Sometimes the rabbit gets you."

Revis was still one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks last season, but he wasn't the unstoppable defender that he was for parts of his first stint with the Jets earlier in his
