CSupreme Court nominees is nothing new. Starring in HBO’s “Confirmation” brought back memories for who recalls Brandeis University law professor testimony against in his 1991 confirmation hearing in which Hill claimed to have been sexually harassed while working for Thomas at the Department of Education. “I remembered it as a kid because my parents were always on the same page ideologically for the most part growing up, but this was one of those few moments where they weren’t,” she told us at a screening of the film in Midtown. “My dad was engaging with the hearings from the perspective of the African-American man and maybe feeling for this man who was having his reputation destroyed and my mother was really engaged with this incredible African-American woman. Washington has since met the real life Anita Hill and was impressed. “She’s still goes to barber shops. “I have a 15-yearold son and I want him to have that experience,” he told Confidenti@l. “It’s a lot like talking to your therapist. You get to come in and say things, you get to have opinions that might not necessarily be popular, you get to understand the whole community.” He added: “I’ll often have the barber come to me because I’m a big time international celebrity superstar - make sure you get that down!” extraordinary,” Washington says.

Pierce says that among the attributes they share are their family backgrounds - they both came from Catholic African American families in the South - and their passion for debating the complexities of the Second Amendment. To this day though, Pierce can’t decide what happened between Thomas and Hill.
“Ultimately I go back and forth,” he said. “I think what the public conversation was about and how it changed the society, is far more impactful and far more important than who you believe between these two people.”
“Confirmation” airs Saturday at 8 p.m. on HBO.
