Just ask him...and his 11 rings

- STEFAN BONDY

he did it with four of the greatest players of all-time in Chicago and L.A. But he can’t bring those type of guys to the Knicks, guys like Kevin Durant, because of the mean media. So Phil Jackson brought his triangle. The Garden made a movie about it. And now, for some reason, Carmelo Anthony can’t bring himself to say the word anymore.

“I’m tired of saying it,” he said this week.

Those fools who are jacking up 3-pointers in Golden State are lucky no team in the playoffs uses Phil Jackson’s triangle. It’s a superior system. Just ask him.

The mean media wants to ignore that Phil Jackson’s team won 15 more games this season. He, unlike those media meanies, sees this as a great step forward. Now you may ask yourself why he fired Derek Fisher in the midst of this great improvement, and of course the answer is he abandoned the triangle. Duh. What does winning mean without the triangle? Surely fans and free agents weren’t happy about those hollow victories with a sloppy triangle.

The good news for free agents is that while the media bullies Phil Jackson, there isn’t an issue with the players. On his way out the door of his final interview this season, Kristaps Porzingis acknowledged he heard horror stories — from the Knicks, no doubt — about the media meanies but was pleasantly surprised by his treatment. Carmelo Anthony’s relationship with the beat reporters is so cozy he was one of five NBA players nominated for the annual Pro Basketball Writers Association Award.

And there are shared views between the media and players — dare we say, harmony. On Thursday, Phil Jackson — who has 11 rings — called out a reporter for writing during the season that rookie Jerian Grant should get more playing time. Jackson’s argument, above criticism because he has 11 rings, was that Grant wasn’t helping the team win and thus not ready.

Well, the veteran players felt differently and lobbied for Grant to get more time, along with the other youngsters on the roster, because Kurt Rambis showed no inclination to change the rotation. o nobody knows what they’re talking about. Except for Jackson, of course. He has 11 rings. And it’s the media’s fault that New York is not an attractive place for free agents. How could they write negative things about a 49-115 record?
