This crisis is a real dog

-

FNow it’s #IceCreamGate — the latest news to rock the kingdom across the pond. Social media users had a meltdown over photos released by Kensington Palace to celebrate cutie Prince George’s third birthday. In one of the photos, the barefoot little prince — clad in denim shorts and striped T-shirt — is sitting on a blanket in the grass and appears to be sharing his ice cream cone with Lupo, the family dog. We know dogs can’t eat ice cream — we both are dog people, remember? — but this hardly feels like the royal scandal people were making it out to be. Ridiculous! You really want to know what I think people should do? Scratch her… Scratch Hoda’s Egyptian ass. I think everyone is a little Judge Judy about everything these days. It’s getting to be enough already! I understand dogs can’t have ice cream. Look, Kath and I are both dog lovers and we understand that sometimes things end up hurting dogs, even if it wasn’t intended that way. But sometimes it’s just a picture.

I’m sure someone stepped in as it was happening — as parents usually do — and said, “No, no, no. Lupo can’t have that.” Sharing food with a dog you love is a natural thing for a child to do. And that’s when parents or adults step in and explain what you can and can’t share.

That picture was a frozen moment — just a snapshot, not the whole story.

Oh, I like that pun. She’s not usually that sharp. Write that down.

And those photos they released to celebrate his third birthday were just a gift of joy to the world. Adorable.

Like I said, scratch it. Watch Kathie Lee and Hoda every day at 10 a.m. during the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today” show.
