WIN ‘DISGUSTING’

Jet WR pained watching rivals torch Texans, and now for Belichick’s next magic trick...

- BY SETH WALDER

Brandon Marshall couldn’t bear to watch the Patriots’ 27-0 thrashing of the Texans on Thursday night through to the end. “I had to turn it off; it was disgusting,” the wide receiver said. The Patriots are out to a 3-0 start despite Tom Brady being suspended for the first four games. With Jimmy Garoppolo hurt, New England started third-stringer Jacoby Brissett at quarterback and still beat up on Houston. “Coach (Bill) Belichick’s really good,” said Marshall, before news broke that Brissett may now miss next week’s game with a thumb injury. “He’s really good. Obviously, they’re in our division. Just being honest and truthful, they’re in our division so you’re watching and you see what’s going on.” That the Patriots are out to such a hot start makes it that much tougher for the Jets to contend for the AFC East title. Gang Green faces a big test on Sunday in Kansas City and Marshall (knee, foot) is technically questionable and was deemed a game-time decision by Todd Bowles. However, it seems more likely than not that the wideout will suit up.

Regarding the Patriots, Marshall said he isn’t thinking about the fact that New England puts pressure on the rest of the division by being so good.

“I wish I could curse right now. Only time I curse sometimes is in football so I’m trying to be better. But I don’t have a ‘d’ about the Patriots. Can you fill in (the blank?),” Marshall said. “I just care about the Jets. It’s nothing against them, I just care about the Jets. It’s all about us.”

Of course, he clearly cared a little bit, since he was watching the game and found it so abominable. However, he said he really isn’t spending much time worrying about the Patriots these days.

“I’m not even thinking about them right now because I don’t think we play them until the end of the season. November, December,” he said. “I don’t care about the Patriots, I don’t care about the Bills, I don’t care about the Dolphins or any other team.”

Marshall suffered what at first appeared to be a gruesome knee injury in last week’s win over the Bills, but later returned to the game.

However, the wide receiver said the reason he is questionable now is that last Thursday he had adrenaline pumping and had taken Toradol, a painkiller, before the game.

“For me, you’ve got to think about — this is Week 3...I never want to hurt the team or hurt yourself worse,” Mar- shall said.

After a reporter said he didn’t buy the notion that Marshall really could miss Sunday’s game because he practiced on a limited basis on Friday, the wide receiver noted, “Think about it, it’s a knee. You saw the picture. So there’s definitely something going on in there. It’s a knee. There’s a lot of guys that are out this year because of knees. There’s a lot of guys that ended their career over knees.”

Still, that he was able to get some work in on Friday is definitely a positive sign for his chances.

“You want to be an asset to the team and not a liability, but I’m going to do everything I can to be out there, and it will be coach’s decision,” Marshall said. “He has to make that decision. Because if it’s up to me I’d be out there (at) 40, 50 percent.”

NOTHING’S CHANGED: Brown in Ferguson, Mo., near his hometown of St. Louis. Richardson referred to Wilson as a “pig.”

Now though, Richardson said he and his teammates aren’t planning any form of protest, like some other teams are, as the violence continues against black Americans by police officers. He just doesn’t think it will make a difference.

“S--t’s still the same,” Richardson told the Daily News. “Ain’t going to never change, man. It is what it is. Protect yourself at all times.”

This week Keith Lamont Scott was killed by police in North Carolina and Terence Crutcher was killed in Oklahoma. Betty Shelby, the officer who shot and killed Crutcher, has been charged with manslaughter.
