Shmurda gets jail after he’s licked in plea fight
HIP-HOP hitmaker Bobby Shmurda tried to get out of his plea bargain before starting a prearranged seven-year prison stay.
The rapper stuck out his tongue at photographers Wednesday after a Manhattan judge rejected Shmurda’s bid to fire his lawyer and withdraw his guilty plea.
“I was forced to take this sentence,” Shmurda (photo) told the judge as flustered attorney Alex Spiro stood alongside him. “I want to drop my plea.”
The rapper then addressed Spiro directly: “I want to drop my plea and fire you ... Why are you telling me to waive my rights? I am not waiving my rights.” Shmurda, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy and one count of weapons possession, days before he was due to stand trial in September.
They claimed that the gun was carrying when busted on June 3, 2014, was a rap video prop.
Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, looked defeated as he exited in handcuffs. His 2014 debut single “Hot N---a” hit No. 1 on the rap charts.
