Jets drafted Hackenberg in second round with expectation that he will be starting quarterback at some point. However, he hasn’t progressed enough to play. As fourth quarterback on roster, he’s getting minimal reps in practice. It’s likely Petty will get his shot to play before Hack. Here’s what Bowles had to say about former Penn Stater on Wednesday: “You’ve got to get reps to get ready. He’s a rookie quarterback and he’s got three in front of him. He’s not going to get enough reps to be ready to throw in there like that. He’s getting plenty of scout team reps. He’s learning poise in the pocket and is getting experience that way.”
