Kristaps rolls again

- BY STEFAN BONDY

BOSTON — Two-way star Kristaps Porzingis continued his impressive preseason, leading the Knicks without Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose in a 121-96 blowout Wednesday over the Celtics.

Porzingis, who had his rookie contract ex- tended earlier this week, scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half, finishing with three blocks in just 23 minutes. The strained groin he sustained the previous game clearly wasn’t an issue. He leads the Knicks this preseason in scoring and blocks while shooting 55% from the field and 92% from the foul line.

“I think you’ve seen (my versatility),” Porzingis said.

Still, the 21-year-old pointed out his flaw.

“I need to get more rebounds,” said Porzingis, who grabbed three boards Wednesday and averaged 4.4 in five preseason games. “(Joakim Noah) is such a good rebounder. Sometimes it’s just box out my man and he gets the rebound, get him going and running the floor. So I’m not really worried about that so much. If we have problems, that’s something I have to focus on, but we’re a pretty good rebounding team. Offensively, from the first game until now, we made a lot of progress. We understand the triangle a little bit more and we’re just running more and finding each other better. So I think we made some progress this preseason.”

Anthony sat Wednesday in the first game of a back-to-back with the hope of playing in the preseason finale Thursday in Brooklyn, where coach Jeff Hornacek plans to use a regular-season rotation. The Celtics rested their entire starting lineup.
