Driver charged in fatal hit-run

POLICE HAVE charged a Brooklyn man with leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly plowed his Jeep into a 64-year-old woman, killing her, officials said Saturday.

Joseph Zayats, 22, is accused of fleeing the scene after hitting Krystyna Iwanowicz with his 2015 Jeep Cherokee when she stepped into the middle of Avenue J near E. 10th St. in Midwood on Oct. 8, cops said.

Zayats’ Jeep knocked Iwanowicz onto the roadway, where she struck her head, officials said. Paramedics rushed her to Maimonides Medical Center, where she died of her injuries six days later.

Zayats surrendered to cops at the 66th Precinct stationhouse the morning after the crash, police said.

He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and ordered held on $1,500 bail, according to court documents
