RB Spiller joins Gang

-

THAT WAS FAST.

Knile Davis’ tenure with the Jets turned out to last just a few hours, as Gang Green found another running back they liked more: C.J. Spiller.

The Jets reached an agreement with Spiller and plan to waive Davis on Wednesday, according to a source. The team had been negotiating with Spiller but didn’t reach an agreement with him until after it had claimed Davis, who was recently cut by the Packers.

The eventual signing of Spiller will reunite the running back with the coach who has had the most success with him: Chan Gailey.

Spiller was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2012 with the Bills when Gailey was the team’s head coach.

With the Jets, Spiller should provide depth behind Matt Forte and Bilal Powell. The Jets cut RB Troymaine Pope earlier in the day when they claimed Davis.

l For a moment on Tuesday, Brandon Marshall thought he had been dealt. On “We Need to Talk” for CBS Sports Network, Marshall revealed his moment of panic.

“Literally three minutes ago, I got a call from someone within the (Jets) organization. My assistant called and said, ‘Hey B, this guy called you and said it’s an emergency,’ ” Marshall said. “I put my head down and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. I’m about to get traded.’ He said, ‘I just want to let you know. Don’t listen to the rumors. We’re not shopping you.’ ” — Walder
