A DRUNKEN DRIVER who abandoned his car and fled after a massive Bronx crash, leaving his friend to die, was going three times the speed limit when he veered into an oncoming lane of traffic, court papers reveal.

Firefighters responding to the Thursday crash on Boston Road near Wallace Ave. in Allerton had to use jaws of life to tear away pieces of the mangled 1997 Toyota Camry and free 21-year-old driver Tanbir Islam and his injured friends, officials said.

Islam was going 75 mph, according to prosecutors.

The speed limit on Boston Road was reduced to 25 m.p.h. in 2014 as part of Mayor de Blasio’s Vision Zero push to reduce traffic deaths.

After Islam (photo) was freed from his crumpled car, firefighters told him he couldn’t leave but the allegedly boozed-up motorist ran off, officials said.

He showed up at Jacobi Medical Center almost five hours later reeking of alcohol and “unsteady on his feet,” according to a complaint filed in Bronx Criminal Court.

His pal Christopher Hulse, who was sitting in the back seat, had been rushed to the same hospital but doctors couldn’t save him.

Islam was arrested after being treated for injuries he suffered in the wreck, police said.

The other passengers in the Toyota, two more 21-year-old men and a 22-year-old man, were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in serious but stable condition, officials said.

Donald Robinson, who was driving the Chrysler Town and Country Minivan that Islam plowed into before striking a parked Mitsubishi Endeavor, was also taken to Jacobi in critical condition, officials said.

The crash was so severe that Robinson’s lung detached from his chest, officials said. He also suffered fractured ribs.

Cops charged Islam with aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, drunken driving and speeding.

He was ordered held on $500,000 bail during a brief arraignment hearing in Bronx Criminal Court Friday night.
