Hil done with runs – de Blaz

“What Neera said is exactly what I assumed,” said de Blasio. MAYOR DE BLASIO says he’s not worried about Hillary Clinton challenging him for his job because he believes the 2016 White House race was her last.

But De Blasio, speaking to reporters on Monday, said he does think the two-time failed presidential contender has a bright future.

“I’m sure she’s going to find a lot of other important things to do,” said de Blasio when asked about Clinton’s City Hall chances.

As the Daily News reported on Saturday, Clinton is being urged to run for mayor by some Democrats, and recently left open the door to running when talking to a Democratic Party leader, according to a source.

But Neera Tanden, a Clinton campaign aide, threw cold water on the rumors over the weekend when she told CNN, “I don’t expect her to ever run for any elected office again.” De Blasio said he agreed with Tanden.

“It just made total sense that that was her last campaign, and one that, by the way she won 3 million more votes than Donald Trump.” De Blasio is up for reelection this year.

So far, no high-profile Democrats have jumped in to run against him, despite his lackluster poll numbers among white New Yorkers, and ongoing federal and state law enforcement probes into his fund-raising.

Those probes have resulted in no arrests, and de Blasio has repeatedly said he would eventually be vindicated. In addition to waking up the so-far sleepy mayor’s race, a Clinton run would also give the former secretary of state the perfect revenge against de Blasio.

The mayor, who was her campaign manager in her 2000 Senate race in New York, refused to endorse her when she first jumped into the race to replace President Obama.

He said he needed to hear more of her vision, before ultimately coming round to back her in October 2015, six months after she had declared.

One Clinton loyalist told The News it would be “sweet justice” to see Clinton battle de Blasio for City Hall, but called talk of her running a “political delusion.”
