Jenna sorry as star says don’t ‘Fence’ me in!
NOW, THEY’RE mending fences.
A day after their mistaken movie mashups at the Golden Globes, actor Michael Keaton and correspondent Jenna Bush Hager issued apologies for their “Hidden Fences” flubs.
Keaton took the sarcastic approach, feigning his immense regret to a TMZ cameraman.
“Let’s make this official: I’m sorry. I apologize. I screwed it up,” Keaton said. “Are they making a big deal? Wow?”
But Hager (photo), the daughter of former President George W. Bush and an NBC correspondent, got emotional after mistakenly combining the titles of two films, “Fences,” and “Hidden Figures,” which each had largely black casts.
“I have seen both movies, I thought they were both brilliant,” Hager told the “Today” show on Monday. “And if I offended people, I am deeply sorry. It was a mistake because as you all know, I am not perfect. I am authentic, but a human, and what I didn’t want to do was make anybody feel lesser than who they are.”
Hager’s gaffe came while she was interviewing singer and producer Pharrell Williams, who was nominated for composing the score for “Hidden Figures.” But Pharrell came to her defense. “Don’t worry @JennaBushHager! Everyone makes mistakes,” Pharrell tweeted Monday. “Hidden Fences does sound like an intriguing movie though. Just saying... ”
