Overhater rips Meryl
MERYL STREEP can add one more item to her stash of honors — recipient of a Donald Trump Twitter rant.
The actress’ lifetime achievement award speech criticizing the President-elect Sunday night earned retaliation from Trump Monday morning.
“Mer yl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes,” he posted just after 6 a.m.
“She is a Hillary flunky who lost big.”
Trump had a kinder view of Streep (photo) before her speech.
Asked by The Hollywood Reporter in 2015, “Any actress you love?” he said: “Julia Roberts is terrific, and many others. Meryl Streep is excellent; she’s a fine person, too.”
Streep’s speech listed the cast of immigrants contributing to Hollywood before turning to the “one performance this year that stunned me.” She said Trump’s mocking impersonation of disabled reporter Serge Kovaleski “sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good. There was nothing good about it.”
Trump has tried to distance himself from that 2015 incident, which saw him swing his arms around and imitate Kovaleski’s congential joint condition.
“I never ‘mocked’ a disabled reporter (would never do that),” Trump falsely claimed, adding he was just mocking his “groveling.” “Just more very dishonest media!”
