Giant pariah Brown, wife finalize split

- BY CHRISTIAN RED

JOSH BROWN, the former Giants kicker and alleged domestic abuser who was released by the organization in late October, officially divorced from his wife, Molly, Dec. 28, 2016, according to King County (Wash.) court documents obtained by the Daily News.

“The marriage is dissolved. The Petitioner (Molly) and Respondent (Josh) are divorced,” reads the final order, signed by a King County Superior Court judge.

Josh Brown, 37, was originally arrested in suburban Washington State in May 2015 for fourth-degree assault, but he was never charged in that case. The NFL suspended Brown for one game last year – the team’s season opener – for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, but the Giants cut ties with the kicker in October, when team president and co-owner John Mara admitted that the team’s front office had made “misguided” decisions by retaining Brown up until he was released.

When the reports of Josh Brown’s alleged domestic violence and arrest surfaced last August, the kicker said at the time that he was divorced from Molly. But according to the King County court documents, the couple separated May 22, 2015 – the date of Josh’s arrest for assault – and were officially divorced Dec. 28, 2016. They married in July 2008 in Chelan, Wash., and they have one 6-year-old daughter together (although the child’s age is listed as 7 in several of the documents).

Josh Brown must pay $4,000 a month in child support and $15,000 a month in spousal support (the latter from Aug. 1, 2016 through July 31, 2018), according to court documents. Brown’s net monthly income is listed as $91,966.00 in the documents, compared with Molly’s $12,090.00 net monthly income. Molly has two other “dependent children” from another marriage, the documents say, and she is listed as the custodian of her daughter with Josh.

Brown remains on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s exempt list “while the investigation under the personal conduct policy is ongoing,” a league spokesman said. Brown would be eligible to sign with another team next season, but the spokesman said “his status would be reviewed pending final determination of the investigation.” Players are not paid when they are not with a team.
