MADISON, Wis. — Bryant McIntosh scored 25 points, and defensive-minded Northwestern beat No. 7 Wisconsin 66-59 on Sunday, securing an important win for the school’s bid to make its firstever NCAA Tournament.

Dererk Pardon added 11 for the Wildcats (19-6, 8-4), who confounded the Big Ten-leading Badgers (21-4, 10-2) by doubling dominant big man Ethan Happ.

UCLA 78, OREGON STATE 60: With freshman Lonzo Ball taking over at both ends of the court, host No. 10 UCLA forced a second-half change in tempo that made everything fall into place at Pauley Pavilion.

Ball had 22 points and nine assists as the Bruins ran away from Oregon State in the second half.

VIRGINIA TECH 80, No. 12 VIRGINIA 78 (2OT): Seth Allen hit a short jumper in the lane with 3.2 seconds left in the second overtime and Virginia Tech beat Virginia for the second consecutive year at Cassell Coliseum.

MICHIGAN 75, INDIANA 63: Michigan coach John Beilein finally got to celebrate outside Ann Arbor. The fact that it came at this time, in February, and at this place, Bloomington, made it even sweeter for the Wolverines.

Derrick Walton Jr. scored 25 points and Moritz Wagner had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Michigan to victory.

PENN 82, CORNELL 63: Ryan Betley scored a career-high 22 points on 5-for-10 shooting from 3-point range and Matt Howard finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds as Pennsylvania defeated visiting Cornell for its secondstraight win.

Robert Hatter led the Big Red with 22 points.

IONA 90, NIAGRA 76: Jon Severe scored 23 points, Rickey McGill added 19 points, and Taylor Bessick grabbed 11 rebounds as Iona dominated from the outset with a win over Niagara in Lewiston.

STONY BROOK 67, MAINE 66: Roland Nyama capped a career scoring day of 26 points with a free throw with 0.5 left and host Stony Brook defeated Maine.

Maine’s Jaquan McKennon made 1 of 2 free throws to tie the game, then Stony Brook let the clock wind down before Lucas Woodhouse missed a 3-pointer and the ball went out of bounds to Maine with 1.2 seconds left. But a length-ofthe-court pass went out of bounds and the Seawolves regained possession under their basket. Nyama took the inbounds pass in the paint and was fouled as he went up for the shot against two defenders, making the first free throw.

SMU 60, CINCINNATI 51: Ben Emelogu hit two 3-pointers and made the tiebreaking free throw in the gamedeciding 15-0 run for host No. 25 SMU, which beat No. 11 Cincinnati to end the Bearcats’ 15-game win streak. —AP
