Cop-slay trial gaffe: Juror did it?

- Ellen Moynihan

A WITNESS in the case against a man accused of murdering a Harlem police officer confused a juror with the suspect in court on Tuesday.

Isni Nezaj testified in Manhattan Criminal Court that he saw alleged cop killer Tyrone Howard on the FDR with a weapon in his hand moments after Officer Randolph Holder, 33, was shot dead on Oct. 20, 2015.

Nezaj showed the jury how the man he saw ran with a limp.

“He had the gun in his hand, and he was running.” he told the court.

Later that night, Nezaj said he saw Howard, 32, on TV and realized that was the man who ran by his car near E. 120th St.

When asked if he recognized anyone in the courtroom, Nezaj said “yes” — and pointed at Juror No. 6, who gave a thumbsup and took a sip from his iced tea.

The others jurors appeared puzzled by Nezaj’s testimony.

He later corrected himself, saying he saw Howard the night of Holder’s slaying — not the juror.
