Carrington nets 41, Hall KOs Creighton

KHADEEN Carrington tallied the final 10 points of his career-high 41 in the closing minute and host Seton Hall made a big stride toward the NCAA Tournament with an 87-81 victory over No. 20 Creighton on Wednesday night.

Desi Rodriguez had 18 points and big man An- gel Delgado got going in the second half and add- ed 17 points and 17 rebounds as the Pirates (16-9, 6-7 Big East) opened a crucial three-game home stand with a big win.

Marcus Foster had 23 points, six rebounds and six assists for Creighton (21-5, 8-5), which lost for only the second time on the road this season.

BUTLER 110, ST. JOHN’S 86: Avery Woodson scored a season-high 20 points and Andrew Chrabascz also had 20 for No. 24 Butler at home. Federico Mussini had 20 points to lead the Red Storm (12-15, 6-8), who never had a chance after giving up the first seven points of the game.

FORDHAM 53, RHODE ISLAND 43: Jovantae Hawkins scored 20 points and added nine rebounds in Fordham’s road win.

Both teams struggled mightily at times offensivel­y. Each finished under 40% shooting, neither reaching the 20 field goal plateau, and they combined to finish 5 of 35 from 3-point range. LIU 82, ST. FRANCIS BKN. 45: Jerome Frink scored 15 points, drained all three of his 3-point shots, grabbed eight rebounds, and had four assists and LIU won the 42nd Battle of Brooklyn on the road.

Frink was named Battle of Brooklyn MVP and the Blackbirds ended St. Francis’ twoyear reign in the series.

STONY BROOK 66, HARTFORD 54: Lucas Woodhouse scored 15 points and Bryan Sekunda added 14 to lead visiting Stony Brook to its fifthstrai­ght win.
