Marshawn tells Raiders he’s in comeback mode

Beast Mode wants to come back. Running back Marshawn Lynch has informed the Raiders that he intends to come out of retirement, according to NFL Network. The Seahawks still retain Lynch’s rights so in order to come out of retirement and play for his hometown team, Seattle would have to either release those rights or trade them to the Raiders. Lynch retired after the 2015 season. — Seth Walder

RUSSELL MISSES TRIPLE-DOUBLE MARK

Russell Westbrook just missed breaking a tie with Oscar Robertson for the NBA single-season triple-double record but did knock down a late 3-pointer to seal Oklahoma City’s 103-100 road victory over Memphis. Westbrook had 45 points, 10 assists with the nine rebounds.

The richest horse race in the world is getting richer. Organizers of the Pegasus World Cup revealed the purse for next year’s race will be $16 million, an increase of $4 million from the inaugural version this year. The race is set for Jan. 27, again at Gulfstream Park.
