Wright, 34, is continuing his rehab in New York City in coordinati­on with the Hospital for Special Surgery.

It is the second serious side issue that Wright is trying to come back from. In 2015, Wright missed 115 games with spinal stenosis, but returned and played throughout the Mets’ playoff run to the World Series. Last season, he played just 38 games before being shut down with the herniated disc.

In the fifth year of an eight-year deal, Wright is due $20 million this season and $47 million through 2020. MLB joint domestic violence policy. The closer is eligible to return April 20. He is in Port St. Lucie working in extended spring training.

“He’s throwing a lot. I know he’s working every other day. He threw 40 pitches yesterday, which I wanted him to do. There are those nights where he does 25-30 pitches, I want those to be a little easier for him,” Collins said.

“There may be a little rust to get back on the mound. Again, when he gets here and find out where he’s out, see what the situation is the night he reports, may be the perfect time where Reed needs a day because he’s pitched three in a row.”
