A continuously variable transmission powers the front wheels, and a 4-wheel-drive system is optional, featuring 2WD, Auto and 4WD Lock settings. Hill descent control is standard for the Pathfinder 4WD.
Nissan has also re-tuned the Pathfinder’s suspension and revised the hydraulic electric steering.

Tech talk
In addition to available LED headlights and taillights, a motion-activated rear liftgate activated by waving a foot under the center of the rear bumper, and an extra USB port, the NissanConnect infotainment, navigation and services systems are brought into the modern age.
Standard for all models, the NissanConnect infotainment system gains a larger 8-inch touchscreen display with updated graphics and improved voice recognition technology with a new HD microphone. Navigation remains an option for SV and SL models, and is standard for the Pathfinder Platinum. It gains improved voice destination entry technology this year.
NissanConnect Services is new for 2017, standard for Platinum models and optional for SV and SL models. Available via subscription, this technology supplies features such as automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, stolen vehicle location and safe teen driver alerts related to vehicle speed, curfew time and geographic boundaries.
