S.I. cop is jailed in family fracas
A STATEN ISLAND cop ended up in a Brooklyn holding cell early Friday after a family fight turned violent, officials said.
Police arrested Officer Michelle Sharpe, a 10-year-veteran of the department, for repeatedly hitting the 28-year-old victim outside an E. 107th St. home near Flatlands Ave. in Canarsie about 1:20 a.m. Friday, officials said.
Sharpe also allegedly knocked the victim to the ground.
The violence upset the victim’s two children, ages 5 and 20 months. The kids watched as the brawl unfolded, police said.
Sharpe and the victim are related by marriage, police sources said.
Sharpe, 34, allegedly had help from another family member, Selina Sharpe, 22.
The women are charged with assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
A judge ordered Sharpe released without bail during a brief arraignment Friday. ACCUSED serial church burglar Joseph Woznik says he’s a carpenter by trade, a Christian by choice — and a thief by need.
The imprisoned homeless man, in an exclusive Rikers Island interview, denied claims by police and prosecutors that his unholy crime wave was motivated by an animosity toward the Almighty.
“I don’t hate God or religion,” swore Woznik, 23, in a Good Friday chat with the Daily News. “I’ve been here praying all day, begging for forgiveness.”
Woznik nearly broke down in tears as he accused NYPD detectives of misquoting his explanation for the three-week crime wave targeting four Queens houses of worship.
“The detectives twisted my words,” he insisted after authorities said that Woznik confessed to the crimes by declaring, “I’m mad at God.”
