Potential 1st-rounder Conley visited with Jets last week

OHIO STATE cornerback Gareon Conley, who is expected to have his name called during the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday, has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Cleveland hotel.

This comes just days after the 6-foot, 195-pound Ohio native visited with the Jets.

A 23-year-old woman says the 21-yearold Buckeyes star raped her in a bathroom inside a room at the Westin hotel on April 9 after she refused to have a foursome with Conley and another couple, according to a police report obtained by the Daily News.

The report states the woman met Conley while riding an elevator with friends at around 3 a.m. when she decided to accompany him to his room. Conley then allegedly asked her to have sex with another friend of his and a woman in the bathroom, which she declined. She instead offered to watch the other couple. Moments later Conley grabbed her, unbuttoned and took off her pants, and began to have sex with her, per the report.

The woman claims she said, “No, stop, it hurts!” during Conley’s alleged assault. He then kicked her out of the room several minutes later, according to the report. She described Conley as “a black male who wouldn’t take his sunglasses off and had an Ohio State tattoo on his left forearm.”

No charges have been filed against Conley, and Cleveland police are investigating.

Conley’s attorney, Kevin Spellacy, called the accusations “ludicrous and ridiculous,” telling CBS Cleveland 19 that the alleged victim is nothing but an opportunist.

Officials said no one answered when they responded to the hotel room, and after gaining entry found two men — neither of them Conley — sound asleep. One of them — the man having sex in the bathroom — said Conley never touched the woman and that she became angry because she was kicked out. The other man, who said he was sitting in the room during the entire incident, said Conley and the woman were on the bed together but “nothing happened,” per the report.

Conley was not in the room when police arrived and the two men said they did not know where he had gone.

An officer attempted to speak with the accuser at the hospital where she was administered a rape kit, but she was unwilling to give an interview. She instead told police that she wanted to go home and “that her dignity was stripped from her in a matter of minutes,” according to the report.

Spellacy said he has arranged for Conley to meet with police after the NFL draft, which takes place in Philadelphia from April 27-29. Conley, however, who reportedly will not attend the event, returned to Ohio from Philly on Tuesday and denied the allegations, according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora.
