Early signs killer gridder eyed suicide
AARON HERNANDEZ hinted about suicide three weeks before he hanged himself in a Massachusetts prison cell, according to a lawyer for one of the fallen football star’s prison pals.
Lawrence Army, an attorney for inmate Kyle Kennedy, said Wednesday that Hernandez told his client the end was near.
“I think I’m going to hang it up. LOL,” Hernandez wrote the inmate, according to Army.
The lawyer said Hernandez penned the remarks last month as he defended himself against double murder charges. Hernandez killed himself on April 19, five days after he was acquitted of the double murder. Kennedy, 27, a rumored gay lover, called Hernandez his friend.
“I miss my friend, Aaron Hernandez,” Kennedy said in a statement. “I’d like to send my condolences to his fiancée and his daughter.”
Hernandez, who was serving a life sentence on another murder charge, wrote three suicide notes, including one believed to have been addressed to Kennedy.
