Shutdown stopper
HOUSE REPUBLICANS unveiled a stopgap bill to keep the government operating past Friday’s midnight shutdown deadline.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen said late Wednesday that the one-week measure would buy time to wrap up talks on a $1 trillion-plus omnibus spending bill that’s the center of bipartisan talks on Capitol Hill.
Obamacare-related funds and demands from the White House that the bill include money for the construction of a wall along the Mexican border have slowed talks.
