Thor skips MRI issue in tweet
Thor isn’t feeling much like a super hero right now. But Noah Syndergaard vowed on Twitter Monday night that he’ll come back from his partially torn lat muscle “stronger and with a renewed passion and respect for the game.”
Syndergaard is sidelined indefinitely after he was injured in the second inning of Sunday’s loss to the Nationals.
He was pushed back from Thursday to Sunday because of biceps tendinitis, but refused to take an MRI, insisting he felt good and was ready to pitch.
To add to his awful week, Syndergaard got into a dust-up with Mets PR man Jay Horwitz on Thursday because he wasn’t shielded from reporters.
Though he didn’t mention the MRI refusal or the Horwitz spat, Syndergaard appeared to be humbled by everything that has gone on, tweeting after the Mets’ 7-5 win over the Braves on Monday.
“METS WIN! I never realized how difficult it would be to watch a game from home and not at the field. Today was extremely tough. Even harder than I thought when I turned the game on,” Syndergaard wrote.
“I HATE not competing and being with my teammates, but I promise I will come away from this experience stronger and with a renewed passion for the game. I LOVE this team, I LOVE this city and I’m sorry I can’t be on the field during this time for all of you.”
“Thank you again to the Mets organization, the fanbase, friends and family who have my back. I won’t forget it. LGM.”
Syndergaard was put on the 10-day DL on Monday, but is expected to miss two months or more.
