A BRONX MAN beat his 4-yearold stepson, leaving him with horrific injuries, including a bleeding liver, to keep the child away from his baby brother, police said Wednesday.

The boy’s mother left him with his stepfather in the family’s apartment on Vyse Ave. in Crotona Park East when she went to buy juice about 7 p.m. Sunday, cops said.

When she returned about 15 minutes later, her son had a bruise on his head. She confronted her husband, Trevor Brown, 28, who cops say is a Bloods member, and he told her the boy fell off a bed.

When the mother looked more closely and found more bruising on his upper body, she again confronted Brown. He acknowledged striking the boy to keep him away from his 11-month-old half-brother, police sources said.

Told by the mother he had to leave, Brown stormed off into another room and broke a window.

The mother, meanwhile, gave the boy juice and Gatorade because he was shaking and vomiting and she thought he had a stomach virus, sources said. Then she called 911.

The boy was rushed to Lincoln Hospital with bruises on his face, ears, neck, back and abdomen, officials said. He was bleeding from his liver and had blood in his mouth and nose. After being transferred to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia, he told medical personnel Brown had punched him in the stomach, sources said.

Cops tracked Brown down and he said the boy got hurt before his wife left for the store, sources said. Police charged Brown with felony assault. The boy is expected to survive.
