Jet keeps Shel-in’ old mate Marshall

- BY PETER BOTTE

The crosstown feud between Sheldon Richardson and Brandon Marshall apparently isn’t going away.

Richardson took the verbal jabs with his former Jets teammate to another level on Monday when he charged that the wide receiver packed it in on the team last season before signing with the Giants as a free agent.

“That right there, that whole situation was sticky because we’re losing and he’d do little things that were drama-queenish and then he’s dogging out this guy, that guy. It’s everybody’s fault except his,” Richardson said on ESPN’s The Michael Kay Show, which was broadcasting from Jets practice in Florham Park. “Everybody’s pointing a finger when you’re losing, and nobody wants to say something to him.

“Then I say something to him, the criminal, the bad guy, and the media just ran with it. But that man knows what he did to the locker room a little bit. I was the one who addressed it, and still will address it to this day. If he can’t come out on media and tell them what he did and how he actually quit on this team way before the season was over with, then that’s all on itself.”

The two players got into a heated altercation early last season following a Week 3 loss to Kansas City, and Richardson has called out Marshall publicly several times since.

In May, Richardson had said that the Jets’ locker room “is a whole lot easier to get along with” now that Marshall went elsewhere.

“Let’s just say I’ve got 15 reasons why it’s better,” he added, referencing Marshall’s uniform number.

While Richardson stressed that he’s “moved forward from the BMarshall thing,” he clearly still harbors ill will towards his former teammate, who mostly hasn’t reciprocated in the war of words from Giants camp.

Richardson also takes issue with Marshall saying that he asked the Jets to release him because he didn’t want to return to a losing situation.

“He contributed to that. He’s gotta look at himself,” Richardson said. “We all contributed to that. He was out there when we were taking those L’s. We took them L’s together.” Grounded: Running back Bilal Powell (sore neck) and linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin (sore back) did not practice.
