Taylor boosts Hargitay fund after court win

- BY NICOLE BITETTE

TAYLOR SWIFT is putting her money where her mouth is.

The pop star promised to donate to sexual assault survivors after her court victory against a former Denver radio host who groped her — and has designated “Law & Order: SVU” actress Mariska Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation as the recipient.

“Taylor is aware of the Joyful Heart Foundation and follows our work,” Maile Zambuto, CEO of the nonprofit, told the Huffington Post. “Her team got in touch with me and we talked a lot about her commitment, all along throughout this ordeal, to wanting to be of service to survivors.”

Zambuto did not reveal the amount the singer planned to donate, but called it an “extremely generous financial investment.” Swift, 27, said in a statement Monday that her moment on the stand was “fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault.” “My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

A jury on Monday found Mueller groped Swift during a photo op before a concert in Denver in 2013. In keeping with Swift’s request, the panel awarded her $1 in damages.

Hargitay launched the organization in 2004. Since then, it has worked to assist more than 18,000 people who have been victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.
